Passport Facts

What is Passport

This essential program of direct funding to help individuals be involved in their community. In 2005/06, the Passport Program began to provide direct funding for a smoother transition for young people and ongoing support for adults with a developmental disability – to participate in the community – once they are no longer in school. It is funded by the Ontario provincial government.

Starting April 1, 2012, direct funding for adults with a developmental disability became available through this program. The Passport program has become the sole mechanism for direct funding to adults with developmental disabilities.

All those who seek Passport funding must apply through Developmental Service Ontario/DSO. Those seeking Passport funding must also be assessed according to the Supports Intensity Scale (SIS).

Click here to be directed to the MCSS-Ministry of Community and Social Services for all the details describing how to apply and how to contact your DSO. There is also a link to connect to the agencies that administer this direct funding program.
